Gold worth Rs 7.5 cr. offered at Vaishno Devi shrine

Jammu, Nov. 12 (PTI): The Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir has received offerings of gold worth Rs 7.5 crores in the first 10 months of this year, officials said.

The gold has been handed over to RBI officials who have taken it to Mumbai for currency conversion, they said.

Gold, jewellery, diamonds, pearls, silver and cash worth over Rs 120 crores are offered at the shrine annually, they said.

So far, 62 lakh pilgrims have visited the temple this year, they said. The shrine's administration expects 75 lakh people to visit it by the year-end.
