HAATHI KE DAANT DIKHANE KE AUR AUR KHANE KE AUR

HINDU TEMPLE IN LAHORE DEMOLISHED

It refers to shocking UNI report quoting Pakistani newspaper Dawn about demolition of the only Hindu temple in Pakistani city Lahore after the site was allotted to a private developer for commercial building. Transfer of temple-site was in violation of rules concealing the fact of site being a religious place of minorities there. Demolition becomes significant because the erring official had earlier also demolished a Hindu temple in Vehari during his posting there.

It is a matter of satisfaction that several political parties of Pakistan have objected to such demolition of temple. Otherwise also, Pakistan Government has offered appreciable facilities to uplift minority-places of religion like at Nankana Sahib and Katasraj. Interesting aspect is that official tourist-booklet published by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) initiates description of Lahore as ‘named after Luv, son of the legendry hero of Ramayana because Luv founded the city of Lahore’. Pakistani government should rebuild a glorious temple in Lahore to respect hurt sentiments of crores of Hindus worldwide after punishing the erring official.
