Orissa beggar wins literary award
Meet 73-year-old Dhirendra Nath Barik, who will get the prestigious Orissa literary prize - "Sharala award" next month.
Dhirendra weaves coir products for a living but that's not enough to feed his ten member family. So he goes around begging.
But these hardships did not deter him from composing around eight thousand short poems on social issues and bhajans over the last three decades.

Lalmuni Devi among top 25 farmers in Asia
A landless woman from Bihar has been nominated among the top 25 farmers in Asia by a Mexican website.
Forty-five-year old Lalmuni Devi was a daily wage labourer when she decided to take destiny into her own hands and transformed herself into a successful mushroom farmer. Today she manages to make Rs 12,000 every year for an investment of only Rs 600.
